I recently went to Starbucks with my son and he ordered his favorite drink. He was super bummed when they said it’s been removed from the menu. They said they could try to figure out a version of it, but it wouldn’t be exactly the same. Then, they dropped another bomb on us: 13 drinks had been removed, with many more menu items to come.
I did a little research and learned that 30% of the Starbucks menu are being removed this year! Starbucks has said that this will help them get back to their core values: coffee craft, community, and connection. I’m sad to say that my son’s favorite drink didn’t make the cut, but it’s not the first time something I’ve loved at Starbucks has been removed. Many people have commented recently that removing the toffee nut syrup was a sad loss, along with the toasted vanilla syrup over a year ago.
The good news is, there’s still a ton of delicious options and you can create your own drink, too. And, of course, you can buy your own syrups and sauces and recreate all of them at home anytime you want.
But, what exactly is Starbucks cutting? Here’s the first 13 drinks removed from the list. I’ll report back soon with. the other items that get cut next.
13 Starbucks Drinks Removed From the Menu:
- Iced Matcha Lemonade
- Espresso Frappuccino
- Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino
- Java Chip Frappuccino
- White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino
- Chai Crème Frappuccino
- Caramel Ribbon Crunch Crème Frappuccino
- Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino
- Chocolate Cookie Crumble Crème Frappuccino – RIP!
- White Chocolate Crème Frappuccino
- White Hot Chocolate
- Royal English Breakfast Latte
- Honey Almondmilk Flat White
The loss of #9, the chocolate cookie crumble creme frappuccino is the one we are missing the most here, but honestly, we never ordered any of the rest. Which goes along with the statement Starbucks made, that the first menu items cut are the least popular ones.
Of course, Starbucks also announced some good news.
New Drinks Coming To Starbucks:
They are removing the less popular items, but that makes room for some new ones! They’ve already released the new cherry chai latte, which looks delicious and I can’t wait to try it.
They’ve got a lot of new ones to be released soon, too. Here are some of the items I’ve heard about that are coming soon:
- Lavender drinks, such as a lavender latte and lavender matcha
- Cherry drinks, cherry cold foam, cherry chai
- New menu items like jalapeno chicken pocket
- Fig walnut ricotta toast
- Some drink flights
It seems like Starbucks is trying to become more agile, offering less, and releasing new drinks more often. This will help them compete with retailer like Dutch Bros and Peet’s, which have smaller menus and lots of new releases.
But, just like before, you can use any of their ingredients to create a drink you love.
Just don’t ask for the toffee nut syrup.
Get roasted,
