Are you a big fan of Caramel Frappuccinos? Whenever I order a frappuccino, that’s my go-to. I love them so much, I recently wrote a post with 6 different types that you can order – including one secret menu option: the Caramel Macchiato Frappuccino.
So, naturally, I needed to drive through and pick one up. Bonus points for taking pictures before I took a sip – even though it looked absolutely delicious.
What’s in a Caramel Macchiato Frappuccino?
Surprisingly, this delightful concoction doesn’t use a coffee frappuccino base, which is what I was expecting. It’s actually made using a vanilla bean frappuccino base, which doesn’t have any coffee. This mimics the vanilla in the Caramel Macchiato.
Then, you add espresso, one or two shots, and caramel drizzle. Whip is optional, but honestly, why not? It gives it a creaminess that I love in the Caramel Macchiato.
What does the Caramel Macchiato Frappuccino taste like?
if you drink the Starbucks Caramel Macchiato as designed, you’ll find the frappuccino version to be sweeter. I, however, order my Caramel Macchiatos upside down, which makes them sweeter and less bitter, so I find this frappuccino to be a pretty close creation!
Either way, its blended, instead of hot or iced, and has the main notes in the coffee version: vanilla, espresso and caramel.
Customization Options for the Caramel Macchiato Frappuccino:
You can customize frappuccinos, too! There are many ways you can make these drinks right for you. Here are some of your options:
- Choice of milk: whole milk, 2% milk, nonfat milk, almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, coconut milk, heavy cream, half ‘n half
- Add extra espresso shots
- Choice of toppings: whip, syrup drizzle, etc.
- Add syrups or add more pumps of caramel syrup
- Choose size: tall, grande, venti – more on Starbucks cup sizes here.
- Choice of sweeteners, such as honey syrup, simple syrup, Splenda, Sugar in the Raw, etc.
How to order the Caramel Macchiato Frappuccino:
Ready to try it out? Decide in advance on any customizations and get ready to order. If you’ll be ordering it without any additional changes, you would order it like this:
Can I get a (size) vanilla bean frappuccino, add one (or two) espresso shots, caramel drizzle and whip, please?
Make sure to customize your size, at a minimum, and how much espresso you want. I got one shot and that was plenty for me.
Starbucks Secret Menu:
The Starbucks Secret Menu is made of drinks that customers have created themselves and shared online and with others. Baristas are not trained on the secret menu – so you’ll need to be prepared to break it down for your barista. They are always happy to make customizations for you, although know that these changes usually do come at a cost.
One popular Starbucks Secret Menu drink cost me $8.00! So, I’m not 100% sure what the Caramel Macchiato Frappuccino will cost you, based on your customizations, but it will be more than a typical frappuccino.
