Make a Jot Vanilla Sweet Cream Iced Coffee in Less Than 60 Seconds

jot iced coffee recipe  The beauty of Jot is how quickly you can get coffee from the fridge to your mouth. It’s a beautiful thing, really.

Now, that’s not to say we don’t also appreciate a slow pour over or French press. We’re just saying that Jot has earned a really solid place on our shelf of coffee options. And, if you’re limited on space and time, it might just be the BEST coffee option.

That’s why we just had to make a Jot version of our Starbucks copycat drink – the Starbucks Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew. We even taste-tested it side-by-side made with Starbucks iced coffee AND Nespresso iced coffee pods. Yup, we’re thorough over here.

The verdict? The Jot coffee shines through a little bit more than the Starbucks, but not as much as the Nespresso, for a really well-balanced coffee to sweet cream ratio we think you’ll love. We sure did.

Now, let’s talk about how to make it.

Jot Iced Coffee Recipe: A Starbucks Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew Copycat

Starbucks has perfected this drink and it remains our top iced coffee pick at Starbucks. But, if you’re at home and want to have some sweet cream without waiting in a drive through, you won’t believe how easy it is to make at home, especially if you’re using your Jot concentrated coffee.

Here’s what you’ll need:

*We buy Jot with our own money, but they offered this special bundle to our readers! While it’ll save you money, we’ll also receive a commission if you purchase through our links. Win win!

What’s in Starbucks Vanilla Sweet Cream?

The vanilla sweet cream is made with a mix of heavy cream and vanilla simple syrup. A sweet barista told me it’s a 50/50 ratio, but personally, I like a little bit less syrup in mine and it’s still delicious. If you’re health conscious, this is one easy way to reduce carbs and sugars, while still loving life.

Of course, you can use any milk of choice here and it’ll just alter the creaminess/taste a bit. A small price to pay if you’re dairy intolerant or just a big fan of your homemade milk of choice. To each their own.

Easy Homemade Vanilla Simple Syrup:

We’re also purists when it comes to our syrups. We’ve ventured into making our own, because they only need a few ingredients, taste better and have less chemicals/fillers than storebought varieties. We’re talking 3 ingredients and 5-10 minutes. It’s a no-brainer.

You only need three ingredients to make this syrup! Here’s what you need:

Then, just star occasionally until the sugar is fully dissolved and it’s gently simmering.

Remove from heat and let it cool a bit before putting it in the bottle. Use a bottle that seals. We bought a set of these glass bottles with chalkboard stickers, but you could use any kind of container with a seal to keep it fresh.

This will keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks, but honestly, it won’t last that long!

How To make the Jot Vanilla Sweet Cream Iced Coffee:

Steps:

  • Mix choice of milk with vanilla syrup. We used 1 tablespoon to 1/4 heavy cream. You could do less heavy cream and more syrup, etc. I think I would use less cream next time, maybe 2-3 tbsp cream to 1 tbsp vanilla.
  • Mix 1.5 tablespoons Jot with 8oz water. We tried it with 1 tbsp and it was too watered down.
  • Add vanilla syrup to taste to Jot
  • Add ice
  • Pour cream mixture on top
  • Add straw, lightly mix, etc.

That’s all, folks. So easy.

WHAT IS JOT ULTRA CONCENTRATED COFFEE?

jot iced coffee recipe
If you’re new to concentrated coffee, the concept is simple: Jot is brewed at 20 times the concentration using a process that Jot calls “progressive enrichment.

So, that means Jot is not technically concentrated, since water has not been removed from Jot. This means Jot keeps all the flavor, while still offering an incredibly pure, super-strength coffee.

Some concentrated coffees do remove the water and we can attest to the fact that they do not taste as good or as fresh at all.

3 JOT COFFEE FACTS:

It’s important that coffee tastes great, but also, it matters how it’s sourced. Here are some facts about Jot:

1. JOT IS ETHICALLY SOURCED:

We are happy to report that Jot is committed to sustainability in every way and all of their coffee beans are 100% organic. Every bottle of Jot benefits the well-being of the land, those who work it, and their coffee drinkers.

Many of their coffee laborers are also women and Jot is a founding member of the Gender Equity Index, a new measurement tool that sets the bar for equal opportunities for women farmers. They have committed to sourcing at least 40% of their beans from women-owned farms and cooperatives. We LOVE that here at WTF and are happy to get behind this mission 100%!

2. JOT IS LOW ACID:

We have been ON THE HUNT for low acid coffee, thanks to one of us having some growing acid reflux issues. If you also are looking to reduce your acid, coffee is a major way to do that as it is one of the most acidic foods/drinks that we can consume.

You do not have to give up your coffee to go low acid. Jot is very smooth and had much less of an acid reaction for me – in fact – I would say that it was equal to or better to the results I had with actual low acid coffee. And, spoiler alert, Jot is easier to prepare than the pour-over method that I use with low acid coffee beans.

3. JOT IS AFFORDABLE:

We know what you’re thinking – okay this is cool, but how much is it? Jot starts at $24 a bottle, with two choices of original or dark coffee. Each bottle makes 14 8-oz cups of coffee, which brings your price to $1.71 a coffee. Definitely cheaper than your coffeehouse stop.

But, if you use our coupon code for 25% off, you will bring your cost down to $1.20 a cup. Woohoo!

WHAT’S IN A STARBUCKS VANILLA SWEET CREAM COLD BREW?

starbucks Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew

This drink is a similar version of the Starbucks drinks, which is made with a slow-steeped custom blend of Starbucks® Cold Brew coffee infused with vanilla syrup and topped with house-made vanilla sweet cream that cascades throughout the cup. It’s sweet, creamy and super-smooth.

You can ask for it to be topped with the vanilla sweet cream cold foam for even more sweetness. To learn more about Starbucks Cold Brew, read this post.

HOW MANY CALORIES ARE IN A VANILLA SWEET CREAM COLD BREW?

starbucks Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew

If you are ordering the drink without substitutions at Starbucks, here are the calories you can expect:

  • Tall: 90 calories
  • Grande: 110 calories
  • Venti: 200 calories
  • Trenta: 210 calories

To learn more about what the Starbucks cups sizes mean, read this post.

Of course, if you are making this at home, this can change based on the ingredients you choose and how much of them you put in. I think I’m a bit heavier-handed with my vanilla and sweet cream than they are at Starbucks (so delicious). Since each of us will customize this drink to taste, it’s difficult to say exactly what the stats will be.
