A Delicious Raspberry Watermelon Italian Cream Soda

Are you a fan of the Dutch Bros sodas? Made with various syrups and soda water, they are delicious, refreshing drinks when you want something fun, without caffeine. These are also called Italian sodas, which you might have ordered at a restaurant. They’re typically a flavored syrup and soda water.

I was inspired to make this because I recently drove through Dutch Bros for my favorite Gem Berry soda with cream and it was SO GOOD that I was craving it at home the next day, when I couldn’t get to a DB. I ended up creating my own version using items I already had at my house and while it had a different flavor profile, it was still really tasty and I had a hard time finishing it before other people who live with me were trying to steal it. I’ve made a few different flavors since and this is still my favorite so far, but I’ll be sharing more flavors as I create them.

The good news here is that this drink is really flexible. You can mix and match with what you have on hand to create something that you’ll love. Or, if you don’t have anything you need at home, you have the perfect opportunity to buy exactly what you want.

Let’s get started!

Raspberry Watermelon Italian Cream Soda: Ingredients

Here’s what I used to make this. La Croix was an excellent base, because it’s lightly flavored soda water, basically. We had a whole flat of it leftover from a party and I was wondering how we’d drink it all. Well, Italian sodas to the rescue!

  • Watermelon La Croix – You can also use plain soda water here, or flavored soda water of choice. Be careful of anything with sweeteners, though, because that will change how much syrup you’ll want to add.
  • Raspberry syrup – I had this from when I made Valentine’s Day drinks! I used 4 tbsp. for the entire 12 oz. can of La Croix and that was perfect. If you’re using 8 oz. of soda water, I would do 3 tbsp. You can swap this out for orange, strawberry, blackberry, or any other flavor. Some people on TikTok had VERY strong feelings about my using this syrup, and if you feel that way too, feel free to make a simple reduction syrup using real fruit.
  • Half ‘n Half – I had to make my own using half heavy cream and have milk of choice (cashew milk is what I had).

Alright, we’re ready! Let’s go!
