NEW Starbucks Boba Tea Drinks with Raspberry Popping Pearls

starbucks boba refresher drinks

Hey boba lovers, you can now get your boba or bubble tea and your Starbucks with their new line of summer refreshers made with red raspberry popping pearls!

The new refresher flavor is a mix of berries and is delicious all on its own, but adding the pop of red raspberry in the form of boba pearls takes it to the next level.

There are three variations of the new Starbucks boba drink and we had to try them all to find out which bubble tea we liked best.

Spoiler alert: we liked them all.

Let’s take a look at the new lineup! Hopefully this is the start of a new boba tea trend at Starbucks.

New Starbucks Boba Drinks!

1. Summer Skies Starbucks Refresher Drink:

summer Starbucks

This was the first one we tried and all of my kids loved it. It’s a lovely blue refresher flavor made with a blend of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry, shaken with ice and creamy coconutmilk and poured over raspberry-flavored pearls. I have a brother who works at a Starbucks in a different state and I am currently trying to find out if these are custom made pearls or if Starbucks is using a particular brand for these. I’ll update soon.

2. Summer Berry Lemonade Refresher:

My lemonade lover was quick to order this one on our next trip and he’s now a fan of this one instead of the coconut milk. No surprise there, because he loves lemonade, but you can taste the flavor. So, if you’re not as big of a fan of lemonade as he is, you may prefer the coconut milk or water based options. This one has the same refresher flavor along with the bursting raspberry pearls.

3. Summer Berry Starbucks Refresher:

This is the same berry refresher made with water and the raspberry pearls. This gives the berry refresher it’s truest flavor and was my personal favorite. If you don’t want the sweetness or tartness of the lemonade addition and you don’t like the subtle taste of coconut milk, then get this one, which is made with water, for a delicious summer refresher that is bursting with fun (see what I did there?) If you are a fan of the pink drink, then you may opt for the coconutmilk one, because the pink drink has coconutmilk in it.

Your Starbucks Boba Questions Answered:

1. Do Starbucks refreshers have caffeine?

They sure do. On the caffeine scale, it’s more than black tea, but less than coffee. I was not aware that they had so much caffeine, so this won’t be a regular think for my kiddos. But, it’s nice to know if I want something in the afternoon for a little kick, but still want to sleep at night, a refresher is a good choice.

2. What flavor is the boba?

The boba they use in this bubble tea is a red raspberry flavor. I have heard from a barista that it’s not a custom made boba for Starbucks. Their matcha, for example, is a custom blend that you can’t buy anywhere, so I was wondering if their boba was as well. If I hear differently, I’ll come back and update this post. But, if this is a boba flavor that can be bought, I might try to get some and recreate this drink at home.

3. Can I get the Starbucks Refreshers without boba?

Yes, you can get all of their refresher flavors made with water, lemonade, or a milk of your choice, without the boba or any of the fruit inclusions. I do not personally like chunks of any kind in my drinks, so I feel you on this one.
