My Version of the Pumpkin Dry Iced Americano with Half & Half

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Pumpkin Dry Iced Americano with half & half

I don’t know what took me so long. I’ve been seeing posts about the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Pumpkin Dry Iced Americano with half & half and caramel drizzle for a long time. From the beautiful, Instagram worthy drink photos to the recreated recipes by coffee bloggers. Each time I saved them to make and then promptly forgot.

But, finally, I made it at home (I don’t live close enough to a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to try the original – sadly) and let me tell you: I should not have slept on this one. The viral status of this drink is absolutely deserved. In fact, I think it’s my favorite pumpkin coffee drink ever.

If you’ve been curious about this one or you love the coffeehouse version and want to make it at home, you’re going to love how easy, creamy, and delicious this recipe is.

Let’s go!

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Pumpkin Dry Iced Americano: Ingredients

You don’t need much to make this, but it’s so good. You can swap out some of these for different brands or versions.

  • Pumpkin Pie Sauce – I have had this Torani Pumpkin Pie sauce for a long time and it’s still delicious. Gotta love shelf stable products, sometimes, especially in flavors that I don’t use very often. Although, after making this drink, I have a feeling I’ll be making this a lot more often. I’ve seen this drink also made with the pumpkin pie sauce from KYYA, the pumpkin pie syrup, and even some homemade versions that I’m sure are delicious.
  • Vanilla Syrup – Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf uses their own vanilla powder for this one, which you can buy online. I know people that swear by this and I’m curious to try it, but I used the 1883 vanilla syrup, because that’s what I had. You can easily make a vanilla syrup with sugar, water, and any vanilla extract, vanilla bean extract, etc. It’s so tasty when made fresh at home. I prefer it to any storebought vanilla that I’ve tried yet. I share my recipe here.
  • Half & Half – You need this for the creaminess. Regular half & half works fine here, but if you’re limiting or off dairy like me, try this Nutpods Half & Half. I was genuinely shocked at how creamy and delicious this made my coffee drinks. Big fan; totally hook; 10/10.
  • Espresso Shots – However you brew your espresso shots, make sure you have at least 2 for your 16-18 oz. drinks. Bigger? Use more, like 3-4 for a venti or larger. I use my Nespresso Vertuo machine to brew my espresso shots. My favorite espresso shot pod is this one, but you’ll need to use two since each pod is one shot. I also like this double shot pod, but it has a much stronger flavor and doesn’t always blend well with other ingredients.
  • Caramel Sauce – This is for lining the cup and drizzling on top. I have been a fan of how easy this Hollander caramel is to use. But, I also like Ghirardelli and Torani, too.
  • Ice – You’ll need a cup of ice here. Seems simple, but how many times have I started a coffee drink only to find out that we’re out of ice? Exactly. I also get ice right when I start getting my ingredients out now to make sure.

That’s it! It’s actually pretty simple! No fancy tools required other than whatever you normally use to brew espresso shots. Some people share that you can make extremely strongly brewed instant coffee as a swap here. I haven’t tried it, but you do you.

Let’s Make The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Pumpkin Dry Iced Americano:

I shared a video on Instagram that takes you step by step how I made this drink. Once I got everything out and the espresso shots brewed, it comes together really fast and it’s super tasty.
