Dutch Bros Cocomo Copycat Recipe

Dutch Bros Cocomo Recipe

I’m so excited about this recipe, you guys. My husband loves coconut mochas and I have not been able to make one at home, until now. When I realized that KYYA has a coconut syrup, I knew exactly what I was going to make with it and it turned out even better than we expected. In fact, I got a big thumbs up from my resident taste tester who said it’s even better than DB. Personally, I think it’s a very close copycat, but I’m always happy to receive praise, lol.

Making this is super easy. You won’t even believe it. And, there are definitely ways to customize it to your taste, as well as the ingredients you have on hand. I’ll share exactly what I used and then some alternatives for what you can do if you need a Cocomo in your life, but don’t have the same ingredients as me.

Dutch Bros Cocomo: Ingredients

The stars of the show here are the coconut syrup and the chocolate milk. If you have those two things, you can use pretty much any coffee you have on hand. I added a vanilla cold foam to dupe their delicious soft top, but you can make it without that or even with whipped cream. Whipped cream would be delish.

  • Nepresso Coffee Pod: I used two of the Starbucks blonde roast espresso pods. Each pod makes one shot and I like two in my medium sized drinks (similar to a medium or grande), so that’s what I brewed with my Nespresso Vertuo machine. I brewed it right on top of the coconut syrup so the heat would combine them. You could also use a cup of cold brew coffee or brewed coffee. If you use a coffee type that is mixed with water, such as cold brew, you’ll want to use less chocolate milk and it will change the flavor slightly.
  • Coconut Syrup: This syrup is so good. I used about 2 tbsp. of it. We were both surprised at the delicious flavor of this syrup, because we had never tried a coconut one before. KYYA makes great syrups and sauces, in small batches and shipped fresh. Use my code to save 10% – WHATTHEFROTHKYYA10.
  • Chocolate Milk: Dutch Bros uses chocolate milk in their mochas, which is what gives them the chocolatey creamy taste. I picked up this small chocolate milk with 16g protein and it was perfect. You can make chocolate milk using chocolate sauce and your milk of choice to replace this. You’ll need about 3/4 cup to 1 cup.
  • Half ‘n Half: I put a little splash of half ‘n half in my cold foam. You can us any milk you want with the cold foam, though, as long as you have heavy cream as the base.
  • Heavy Cream: To make the cold foam, you’ll need some heavy cream. I know Starbucks has created a dairy free version of cold foam, but I haven’t perfected one yet.
  • Ice: You’ll need one cup of ice. I always mention ice, because how many times have you started a recipe that needs ice only to realize after that you’re out? Maybe it’s just me. I always check for ice first.
  • Toppings: Chocolate drizzle and/or coconut flakes, would be delicious!

To make the cold foam, you’ll need a handheld frother. I’ve been using this one for a long time and still love it. It even looks nice on the counter. It makes cold foam super fast, too.
