An Irresistible Coffee Whipped Cream Recipe You’ll Make Over and Over

coffee whipped cream

I came up with this coffee whipped cream recipe quite by accident. What I mean is that I was actually trying to find a recipe for this “secret cold foam” that a coffee shop uses. I don’t live close enough to visit and try it for myself, so I was trying to find someone that had shared the recipe online. I didn’t find it (probably for the best, since it’s their secret sauce), but I did stumble on a coffee whipped cream recipe that made me do a double-take.

In less than ten minutes, I’d whipped up my own version of the recipe and couldn’t believe how delicious it was. I was literally standing there, eating it by the spoonful, when my husband came in and asked what I’d made. Luckily, I had enough to share, so I handed him his own little cup of coffee whip and he started doing the same thing. It’s literally so good you almost won’t want to put it on your coffee drink – and you don’t have to – but it’s great with coffee, too. In fact, I’ve been dreaming up all of the ways that I can get more coffee whipped cream into my life. So, while I wholeheartedly want you to try this recipe, it also should come with the warning: this coffee whipped cream is so good, you won’t be able to stop eating it.

If you’re willing to accept these terms, then let’s get started.

Coffee Whipped Cream: Ingredients

You don’t need that much to make this and it’s worth every minute it takes (and it’s not many). I’ve changed up the ingredients a little here and there each time to come up with this winning combination. That said, use what you have. Don’t let anything get in the way of making yourself a batch of coffee whipped cream.

  • Heavy Cream – If you’re dairy-free you may have an alternative that you use for homemade whipped cream and that might work here, too. I’m a little sensitive to dairy, but I risk it for things like this. Make the choice that is right for you. You’ll need one cup for a small batch.
  • Powdered Sugar – I personally prefer the taste and consistency of whipped cream made with powdered sugar. I have made this with granuled and it was fine. I haven’t tried brown sugar, but it’s probably delicious. I definitely haven’t used a sugar alternative. You’ll need 1/4 cup.
  • Instant Coffee – My favorite version so far uses this iced coffee Nescafe instant coffee. I think because it’s a finer grind designed to dissolve in cold liquids, it worked out perfectly. I’ve tried others and they all work fine, too, just take longer to blend in. Use what you like. You’ll need 1 tsp.
  • Vanilla Extract – I like this because it softens the flavor just slightly, like a coffee ice cream flavor. If you don’t have any, use a dash of vanilla syrup. If you don’t have that, don’t worry. Make it anyway. You only need 1/8 tsp.

That’s all, friends. I told you this would be easy!

How To Make: Coffee Whipped Cream

You’re going to love how easy this is. I made a video for social media that walks you through it. Also, scroll down for step by step instructions.

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium sized bowl
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 1/4 cup sugar
    • 1 tsp. instant coffee
    • 1/8 tsp. vanilla extract
  2. Whip with a hand mixer using a whisk attachment if you have it. If you don’t, use regular beater attachments. If you don’t have a hand mixer, use a stand mixer. If you don’t have one, use a whisk and just get after it, friend. However you usually make whipped cream is how you should make this.
  3. Keep whisking until stiff peaks form. Or, if you want cold foam consistency, stop when it’s thick, but still runny.
  4. Eat it, I mean, add it to a coffee, or a cupcake, or whatever you want. Use a piping bag and baking tip if you to pile it on top like a whipped cream can, or spoon it over the top of your coffee with a spoon to get that thick, cold foam effect.
  5. That’s all. Enjoy! You’re welcome!
